Joanne van Gool (Amsterdam, 2000) is a Dutch journalist with a background in law. She holds an LLB and an LLM in Social Private Law from the University of Amsterdam, graduating cum laude in 2024.
She has worked as a journalist at outlets such as the Dutch Press Agency, primarily covering legal affairs, and Amsterdam newspaper Het Parool. Before journalism, she gained experience in law firms, the judiciary, and social legal work. Drawing on her experience in both law and journalism, she is particularly interested in stories about justice and power.
Starting September 2026, she will be based in New York City to pursue an MFA in Journalism at New York University, supported by funding from Fulbright (The Netherland-America Foundation), P.E.O. International Sisterhood and Ivy Circle Netherlands.
